Description

Understanding Muscles and Movement is comprised of the Understanding Muscles and Movement integrated reference manual, the Understanding Muscles and Movement DVD, and the Understanding Muscles and Movement test. This module explains in easy-to-understand terms how the whole body moves together as an integrated system of muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and fascia; information that is essential for understanding the root causes of pain. You will also discover the unique approach of The BioMechanics Method® in regard to understanding how gravity and ground reaction forces change the way the body moves - knowledge that is imperative for designing corrective exercise strategies that will successfully alleviate pain.

Understanding Muscles and Movement explores:

  • In-depth anatomy including muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments and fascia
  • Specific muscle origins, insertions and functions
  • Causes of pain in the body
  • Functional anatomy and how gravity and ground reaction forces change the way a body moves
  • How to design anatomically-based corrective exercise strategies that will alleviate pain

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module you will:

  • Know the major muscle groups that will dictate the exercise strategies used to alleviate pain
  • Understand the real-life function of muscles in relation to gravity and ground reaction forces
  • Comprehend how the body moves as an integrated series of muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and fascia
  • Be able to detect the root causes of a client’s pain and/or movement dysfunction
  • Understand how to use anatomy and assessment findings to design and integrate corrective exercise programming into clients' training programs

Course Procedure

  1. Watch the video entitled “Understanding Muscles and Movement”.
